So week 5 has begun….Week 4 is yet to start for me. Having only just submitted Assignment 1, I feel like I’m falling behind in the course again now. Going from writing blogs, to reading the blogs of others, to searching for lesson plans, to cleaning up Feedly and my inbox, as well as 3 other courses….Feeling the pressure this week.
I am hoping that from some of the positive responses to assignment 2 on the forum and on Feedly, that it should be a fairly straight forward process. As another student, whose blog I can’t find right now, I will be addressing the parts of assignment two as I work through the moodle book.
Well, the forum post from David just arrived in my inbox….Week 5 has just begun. So does that mean my forum posts no longer count as double? Have I missed the boat? I was hoping to really cash in on this little loophole. Spending a lot of last week worrying if my lesson plan was “good enough” took my focus away from these “easy marks.” Note to self… Don’t let this happen again. Meanwhile, Feedly has backed up to an almost unmanageable level…just like my inbox. While I appreciate that I have learnt about a new “thing” (Feedly), I now have my inbox and my Feedly both overflowing….So how much information is too much information and how do we manage this? I now have to limit myself to half an hour in the morning and half an hour before bed just “decluttering” both of them. It has me wondering…are there many others who have the same problem?
My late father had a book, “Taming the Paper Tiger” and for at least 15 years, he had this wonderful quote about resources and their usefulness, on the bookcase in his office. Right now as I write this blog, i can’t remember, but I hope that it will come back to me soon and I can share it on this blog.
Well, that’s in…. Feels like there was far too many blank spaces left. But it seems there were others with this same feeling. I guess, for me, it’s because it’s not the academic essay style of assessment that I would prefer to be working on. To me, it felt like I’ve missed a whole lot of something that should have gone into it…Did I pick a lesson plan that met the criteria? Well I sure do hope so…In my opinion, it ticked all the boxes in the lesson plan criteria. Have I included all the ICT found in the lesson plan in my assignment checklist? Again, I hope so. The assignment information said that it didn’t have to include much, but the more, the better….basically.
David put a forum post up this week about dropping the course….If only it was that simple. I guess for some, dropping the course can be a viable option….Not so much for others. I thought it was interesting considering how far in to the semester we already are. It also made me think…. If people are struggling to engage in course work now, how would they go on prac. I know for myself, last prac, I wasn’t in the “right” headspace and it showed in the behaviour of the students and how I approached my planning. It was a very long three weeks. This prac has to be different. It has to be better than last prac. I am going back to the same school this time, so hopefully I won’t have as much anxiety. I hope that those waiting to find their placements hear back soon for the PE office.
All the best.
